Doesn’t summer always seem to be right around the corner? And can one be really prepared for the heat wave? Well, we have a couple of tips to help you tackle some heavy sunshine this Summer.
1. Cosy is cooler
Keep your blinds and curtains drawn. This helps keep your home cool. You don’t have to bask in that heat even after the sun has set. Heat tends to get trapped in your home long after the sun has gone. So make sure you keep your windows covered up.
2. Open or closed doors?
Well, it works on the same principles as the windows. Keep doors to rooms closed so that the hot air doesn’t circulate in there. Whereas in the night, you can keep both doors and windows open(watch out for mosquitoes and other insects of course), but this lets the cool night air in.
3. Keep it light
Painting your room a lighter shade does a world of difference. It gives a cooling sensation as opposed to dark colours that make the room more stuffy. Lighter colours also give the illusion of space. This really opens up the room making you and guests feel cooler already.
4. Stay closer to the ground
The air is actually cooler closer to the ground since hot air tends to rise to leave the cold air below. Trade in your couches for something like Bounce, a multi-functional furniture piece from Furlenco. It’s nice and low enough for you and guests to enjoy.
5. Bring in the green
Get some pretty indoor plants. They really help liven the room and also contribute to keeping the room nice and fresh. This is something you could add to your home decor in the long run too.
